STEPHEN BARBOUR

CANDIDATE FOR TUNKS

A Councillor for the past 9 years, Stephen was the only true community focused independent voice during the previous Council. He is recognised as a “Can Do” Councillor and a passionate advocate for the North Sydney community.

During his time on Council Stephen has been a strong voice for Tunks Ward on such key issues as over development on Vale Street and more

recently as a strong advocate to establish the new ANZAC Park School and keep the land in public ownership. He has served on the Boards of May Gibbs Nutcote and James Milson Retirement Village.

In seeking re-election, Stephen wants to focus on fixing the traffic issues in the Tunks Ward, especially better solutions for bicycle integration, parking and addressing the concerns of local business. While understanding the rationale for the Norther Beaches Tunnel, Stephen is passionate that Council must work with the State Government and the local community to ensure absolute minimal impact on the health and wellbeing of all North Sydney residents and ratepayers.

A long term North Sydney resident with a young family, Stephen has spent the past two terms putting his community ahead of the personality fueled and political in-fighting that has wracked the Council. He seeks re-election to get back to the basics of Council community management.
