David has a life long commitment to serving the community.  He is also a compelling example of overcoming barriers to become an active contributor to the cultural, political and economic life of Australia.

David was born profoundly deaf and through hard work hears and speaks using his hearing device.  He is the national CEO of award 

winning charity, Hear For You, which provides innovative mentoring programs for hearing impaired teenagers.  Since 2011 he has been the chairperson of Deafness Forum of Australia, a national peak body with over 40 member organisations that provides advice to governments on ways to reduce barriers and increase the well being and community involvement of people living with deafness.In his early career, David held management roles in sports administration at local development, club, state, and national levels.  He has a Master of Science Degree in Sports Management. He played, coached, and officiated in many sports including soccer, rugby, lawn bowls, hockey, kayaking and water polo. He represented Australia at the international Deaflympic Games in 2005.

David has a strong family connection with the area and since moving to North Sydney in 2015, he has become an active member of the community.
